Bio: Born in Canada and raised in Michigan, Addie moved out to California to attend Chapman University and to start a new life. She has studied abroad on Semester at Sea and at the University of Oxford, and has already been to over 30 countries in her life. Addie currently interns at the Newport Beach Film Festival, as well as Grandma's House of Hope, a women's shelter housing program in Santa Ana. This year, Addie has lead the way for the formation of Chapman's first ever gender-neutral, queer-oriented frarority. She is excited to be representing the Adelphos as Delta Queen's first Trans* contestant, and hopes to spread more awareness of the Queer community through the pageant.
What does philanthropy mean to you? Philanthropy means helping out those in need, and giving back to the community. I personally get so caught up in my own daily struggles that I tend to lose perspective and forget that other people are going through much harder times than I am. It's a matter of recognizing the privileges we have and transforming them into tools of change to improve the lives of those around us. Through philanthropies, we support causes dear to our hearts and create a more equitable and sustainable future for our community and world.
